CLG fined for poaching ZionSpartan

Yiliang 'DoubleLift' Peng

After receiving a record $10,000 fine for poaching coach William 'scarra' Li in early December, CLG seem to be in trouble once more. Yesterday, a ruling saw the day of light which found the organization guilty of another competitive offence. An investigation has concluded that current AD Carry, Yilliang 'DoubleLift' Peng, has approached top laner Darshan 'ZionSpartan' Upadhyaya and discussed his future while the latter was still contracted to Team Dignitas.

Riot posted their investigation results which you can find below:

During the 2014 NA LCS Summer Playoffs in early September, Counter Logic Gaming team member Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng had a conversation with ZionSpartan regarding his off-season plans and encouraged him to join CLG. ZionSpartan was still under contract with Dignitas at the time.

Conversations between Doublelift and ZionSpartan regarding a potential move to CLG in the off-season continued off-and-on over the next several weeks.

After ZionSpartan’s contract with Dignitas expired, he approached CLG management to negotiate a contract with the team for this coming season and was soon afterwards signed to the CLG roster.

The Riot ruling is as follows:

  • Yilliang 'DoubleLift' Peng has been fined $2,500
  • Counter Logic Gaming has been fined $2,000
  • CLG is barred from using ZionSpartan in the opening week of NA LCS

The Counter Logic Gaming management has fully cooperated with Riot during the whole ordeal, but has not released an official statement. No top lane replacement for the aforementioned period has been revealed as of yet, however the most likely outcome will be for team owner George 'HotShotGG' Georgallidis to step in as a substitute.
