Watch People’s Reactions To Using PS4 Headset Project Morpheus
Sony brought its PlayStation 4 virtual reality headset Project Morpheus to E3 earlier this month, allowing attendees to try out the upcoming head-mounted display. Now, Sony has published a video called "Faces of Morpheus" that highlights people's reactions to using it.
Some of the buzzwords Sony uses to describe people's reactions include, "anticipation," "trepidation," "concentration," "joy," "captivation," "fascination," "wonder," and "excitement." Of course, virtual reality does not affect everyone in the same way. It's important to note that Sony is putting forward here in this video only the most positive reactions to users' experiences.
Some of the demos shown in the video include space dogfighting game Eve: Valkyrie and a game called The Deep, which takes you on a virtual trip to the depths of the ocean (and there are sharks). Comedian Conan O'Brien also tried Project Morpheus at E3, and his demo got a little weird.
Project Morpheus was announced at GDC 2014, just days before Facebook made the surprise announcement that it would buy Oculus VR--maker of the Oculus Rift headset--for $2 billion. Like Oculus Rift, the Project Morpheus headset is not yet available in a consumer version. Sony has ruled out a 2014 launch for the headset, and has promised that it won't sell for $1000.
