Far Cry 4 story details emerge

Following the unexpected reveal of Far Cry 4 during an investors briefing last week, the first details on the game's story have been leaked by Ubisoft's online store.

A preorder page for the game recently went live on the Uplay store, accompanied by the image above and a short description of what the story is about. Ubisoft apparently didn't intend for this information to go public yet, as the page has since been amended to remove it. Luckily, a Reddit user noticed before this could happen, and a cached version of the page preserves the original text, which is as follows:

"Hidden in the majestic Himalayas lies Kyrat, a country steeped in tradition and violence. You are Ajay Ghale. Traveling to Kyrat to fulfill your mother’s dying wish, you find yourself caught up in a civil war to overthrow the oppressive regime of dictator Pagan Min.

"Explore and navigate this vast open world, where danger and unpredictability lurk around every corner. Here, every decision counts, and every second is a story. Welcome to Kyrat."

Prior to this, all we knew about the game's story was that it takes place in a location called Kyrat that is ruled by a "despotic self-appointed king"--possibly the blonde, purple-suit-wearing guy on the game's cover.

Little else is known about Far Cry 4 at this point, save for the fact that it will have a more significant multiplayer component than Far Cry 3. More details are expected during Ubisoft's E3 press conference, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, June 9, at 3 p.m. Pacific.

Far Cry 4 is set to be released on November 18 for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
