Assassin’s Creed 4 ships 11 million units, Far Cry 3 hits 9 million

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag has now shipped 11 million units to date, Ubisoft announced today as part of its latest earnings report for the year ended March 31.

The company also shared sales figures for other major games, including Far Cry 3 (9 million), Just Dance 2014 (6 million), and South Park: The Stick of Truth, which is seeing "better-than-expected" sales, Ubisoft said. The publisher added that a healthy 25 percent of all Stick of Truth sales came digitally, the highest figure ever for Ubisoft.

Full-year sales for Ubisoft's fiscal year came in at €1.007 billion ($1.38 billion), down 19.9 percent compared to the €1.256 billion ($1.71 billion) that the company hauled in last year. Ubisoft posted an overall loss of €49.3 million ($67.6 million) for the year, compared to a profit of €69.2 million last year ($94.6 million)

It wasn't all down for Ubisoft, however, as the company's digital segment revenues rose 32 percent to €195 million ($267.46 million), which is 19 percent of total sales for the year. Back catalog sales fell just 1 percent to €229 million ($313.1 million), Ubisoft said. In addition, Ubisoft's casual games business contracted by 24 percent to €249 million ($340.45 million).

Ubisoft also announced Far Cry 4 today and said Watch Dogs is on pace to become the most successful new IP in the history of the video game industry. The publisher is currently holding a financial call to discuss these results and answer analyst and media questions. Check back later for more.
