Capcom lists its six “powerful” franchises — Can you guess what they are?

Today in a document from Capcom called Business Divisional Strategies and Projections describing the company's "Competitive Edge," Capcom listed off its six "powerful" franchises. Here's the list:

  1. Resident Evil - 61 million units.
  2. Street Fighter - 35 million units.
  3. Monster Hunter - 28 million units.
  4. Devil May Cry - 13 million units
  5. Dead Rising - 7.5 million units.
  6. Lost Planet 5.6 million units.

Capcom didn't say how it compiled the "powerful" games list, but it doesn't appear to be based on sales alone. For example, Capcom's Mega Man series has sold over 30 million units to date, while Onimusha has shifted more than 8 million copies life to date.

All of the numbers in this post are current as of March 31, 2014.

Capcom also pointed out that "rather than relying solely on our major game titles," the company also launches new content every year as a means to "establish new sources of growth." One of these new games is upcoming PlayStation 4 adventure title Deep Down.

Yesterday, Capcom published its latest earnings report, showing that Dead Rising 3 and Monster Hunter 4 helped the publisher swing to a profit.
