Halloween movie director says Borderlands 2 is the best game on earth

Halloween and The Thing director John Carpenter is a big fan of first-person shooter video games, and his favorite, at least right now, is Gearbox Software's 2012 hit Borderlands 2.

"There's no better game on the face of the earth," Carpenter told Esquire.

How did Carpenter get into video games in the first place? He said that when his son started playing video games as child, he also got hooked.

"They're just so much fun. So I've kept abreast of everything over the years. I have four systems here in the house. The old Xbox and the new Xbox and the old PlayStation and the new one. So I play all the new games," Carpenter said.

He went on to say that he's not very interested in fantasy-themed games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. He would rather wield a gun. "I don't know, I like to shoot things," Carpenter said.

The next entry in the Borderlands series is Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which launches this fall on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Looking for more John Carpenter video game reading? Check out GameSpot sister site Giant Bomb's interview with the director about his favorite games and more.
