Sony Trademarks “Pinch Me, I’m Streaming” and “Seize Your Moment”
[UPDATE] "Seize Your Moment" is actually a tagline featured in this video for PlayStation Now.
The original story is below.
PlayStation company Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has trademarked the phrases "Pinch Me, I'm Streaming" and "Seize Your Moment." Both trademark applications were filed with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) on June 6. The applications--which you can view here and here--were first discovered by DualShockers.
The "Pinch Me, I'm Streaming" trademark covers "online ordering services featuring computer games," as well as "providing a website featuring a list of items and services available for rent by others; providing consumer information in the field of computer games and video games."
That wording suggests "Pinch Me, I'm Streaming" could be a marketing slogan for Sony's upcoming cloud-gaming service PlayStation Now, which will enter an open beta period on PlayStation 4 starting next month. The phrase riffs on the popular expression "Pinch me, I must be dreaming" presumably as a means to highlight how effortless PlayStation Now will be, according to Sony.
Meanwhile, the trademark for "Seize Your Moment" also covers "online ordering services featuring computer games," as well as a "website featuring a list of items and services available for rent by others." The text even specifically references "cloud computing," suggesting that this trademark, too, is related to PlayStation Now.
We have reached out to a SCEA representative for comment about both trademark applications and will update this post with anything we hear back.
For more on PlayStation Now, check out our hands-on with the service, but be aware that we tried the platform in a demo environment that is likely to differ from how you'll use the service in your living room. The upcoming PlayStation Now open beta will feature over 100 PS3 titles, though Sony has not yet published a final list of the titles that will be available. Regarding pricing, you can expect to pay between $3-$20 for rentals. PlayStation Now will roll out later for PS3, PlayStation Vita, and select Sony TVs.
