Assassin's Creed and Far Cry publisher Ubisoft is "extremely happy" about Microsoft's recent decision to drop the Xbox One price to $399 by unbundling Kinect from every unit.

"We are extremely happy with that; we think it's a great move from Microsoft," CEO Yves Guillemot said today during a post-earnings financial call. Guillemot went on to say that the Xbox One price cut means that there will be two new consoles (Xbox One and PlayStation 4) available at an "affordable price."

"We expect the next-gen to grow faster thanks to that," Guillemot said. "Customers will have the possibility to buy either with or without [Kinect] and that will be a very positive thing for the industry."

Also during the call, an analyst asked Guillemot if he knows anything about the assertion that the Xbox One could see a performance boost thanks to Kinect now being optional. He said, "I don't have the answer." You should ask Microsoft about whether or not dropping Kinect will free up extra processing power, he said.

In addition to making comments about the Xbox One, Ubisoft made a number of high-profile announcements today. The publisher officially announced and dated Far Cry 4, delayed The Division, and claimed that Watch Dogs is on pace to become the most successful new IP in video game history.
