NiQ Stands In For Gambit Gaming
Gambit Gaming's announced their mid lane substitute two weeks after the shocking announcement that founder and leader Alex Ich will be stepping down from the team. Sebastian 'niQ' Robak will be stepping into one of the biggest pair of shoes in the scene as the team's temporary mid laner for the upcoming EU LCS summer split.
Robak, currently ranked 4th in the EU West Challenger ladder, hails from Poland and was previously the mid laner for Denial eSports. His prior professional experience includes playing side by side with the ROCCAT roster as part of Kiedyś Miałem Team. Whether he will stay with Gambit as a permanent addition is another thing, as the team remains on the lookout for Russian-speaking talent. Said the team in their recent announcement:
We began searching for a new player from the day following Alex Ich expressing his desire to leave our roster. Throughout this time we tested a variety of players from CIS and Europe. We were primarily testing Russian speaking players, since we wanted to avoid having a language barrier. Due to Diamond's participation at All-Star tournament in Paris, we had to postpone testing European players until his return from the tournament.
niQ is going to perform for us at the first stage of LCS Summer, since potential candidates from CIS didn't have a chance to acquire a visa for a trip to Germany on a short notice. We will make a decision whether niQ will become a permanent player, or whether we will resuming searching for a new one, after completing the first four official matches.
