Dreamhack Summer Dota 2 post-mortem
Another Dreamhack has come and gone, and once again it seems to do nothing but grow on all sides of the spectrum. Dota 2 was especially in the limelight as the exciting conclusion of the ASUS ROG DreamLeague finally reached its climax and six teams were ready to compete for the $250,000 prize pool.
And what better team to claim than the Swedish juggernaut Alliance, who after an extremely close five-game Bo5 series managed to defeat Cloud 9 in yet another Dreamhack tournament in the past two months. WIth this victory it is safe to say that the defending champions of The International are looking extraordinarily sharp as TI4 comes closer.
On the opposite end, Cloud 9 continues their streak of 2nd place finishes. After having looked shaky throughout the event's initial days where they suffered a devastating 18-0 loss to Alliance, they entered the grand finals battered and bruised but with an almost burning desire to claim the trophy. Alas, today was not their day and will have to make due with their fourth 2nd place finish in the past three months.
As for the rest of the teams in attendance one has to look towards the seeming cinderella story of mousesports, who managed to eliminate heavy favorites EG, as well as Fnatic from the event on the first and second day of competition. It was undoubtedly a strong showing, but after having reached such highs so rapidly, the lows came equally as fast. Losing to both Cloud 9 and Team Empire on the tournament's third day spelled the exit for the team that had made their name through the DreamLeague's regular season.
And with that the first season of DreamLeague comes to a close. If you wish to find a complete recap of the brackets, as well as content provided by Cyborgmatt from the event floor, head over to our coverage center of the event.
