Invictus Gaming announce their professional Hearthstone team
Invictus Gaming, most commonly known for their escapades at the Dota 2 tournament "The International 2" at which they took home $1 million dollars for finishing first, have announced their signing of a professional Hearthstone team. Most of the team will be unknown to those of us in the west, however in the East you have names such as Comm, the former Invictus Gaming Starcraft II player and champion of the Hearthstone version of the Red Bull ECL, as well as multiple other trialists as well as top Chinese streamers. Maybe we will see the Invictus Gaming squad take on some of the Western teams in the future, who knows?
Fight for Chinese Hearthstone! Invictus Gaming establishes Hearthstone division
Hearthstone, as one of Blizzard's big name productions, has gained a wide following after being released. Currently there are Hearthstone World Championships (Blizzcon, Global), IEM, Dreamhack, and the Hearthstone Golden Series active.
During the May holidays, iG esports club are very happy to announce that iG has established a Hearthstone division, with the division set to participate in various domestic and international competitions in the pursuit of success, and display a Chinese style of play on the big stage.
The Hearthstone division will be led by current SC2 team leader iG.Edison, who will for now take on both roles. Currently the Hearthstone squad will have iG|Comm, iG|Sword, iG|XiaoYao, iG|Kowfox, iG|XingSu, and iG|QiuTu as its six-man lineup.
Player bios
iG|Comm, Shen Hui. As a SC2 player, he is very well known by fans. He is a quick thinker with his own unique playstyles. He once won the WCS2011 China region title, amongst other results. Converting to Hearthstone, he has chosen to use the relatively unfavored Shaman card set, and won ECL2013, China's first large Hearthstone event, with it. Returning to iG this time, he says he is ready for a challenge.
iG|Sword, Li Heyang. A very young newcomer who made top 16 in ECL2013 last year. He's been using his spare time outside of schooling to work hard in practicing, with the hopes of standing once again on the big stage of a large event.
iG|XiaoYao, Xia Kunbin. If ability means everything, then his first place position in the team tryouts should cement his status. He counts as a more experienced veteran of competitions.
iG|KowFox, Dong Can. Those who have followed Hearthstone competitions will likely be familiar with him. He has been active on the scene, and is adept at analyzing card combinations. He is a rare tactical talent.
iG|XingSu, Liu Hang. Maintaining a top 20 position on the Chinese servers for a long time, he does not require further accolades to describe his ability. Joining iG now, he looks forward to proving himself.
iG|QiuTu, Zhang Xiao. Highly popular Hearthstone streamer. What sets him apart from other players is, he is strong in the arena. He has a variety of pocket strategies in this, and will bring a strong new angle to the team. Of course, his ladder ability is nothing to scoff at either.
