Wild Fire Victorious At EPS Spring 2014
In the 4-team play-off, Wild Fire managed to first beat Alternate in the semi-finals and secondly Mousesports in the grand finals, beating both the favorites in their way to the team's first title. Alternate was taken down after a hard fight over all 3 maps of the series, with the map scores being 16-13 on mirage, 7-16 on dust2 and finally 16-14 on inferno. In the grand finals mousesports provided less of a fight, going down in two maps 21-19 on dust2 and 16-10 on inferno.
Especially during the regular season Wild Fire were rather inconsistent, and having a mid-season replacement seemed to lower their chances even more against the practiced sides of Mousesports and Alternate. However, Wild Fire managed to overcome these deficits, playing very solidly in the finals across the board, to take down the one-man show of Mousesports, as well as the favorites of Alternate.
The win is especially pleasant for the brothers Oberlein, Benjamin (qk-Mantis) and Manuel (mnL), who throughout their careers never managed to play together in professional teams due to mnL's contract with Alternate. But they have managed to team up in Wild Fire and already took down their first German title as a duo.
