Codemasters enters esports partnership with Motorsport Network
Game developer Codemasters has entered a partnership with motorsport and automotive media company Motorsport Network to bolster its esports programmes.
Codemasters is behind racing games such as DiRT, GRID, ONRUSH, and F1. Motorsport Network houses a number of brands in its portfolio, including Motorsport & Autosport.
Frank Sagnier, CEO of Codemasters touched on the deal in a statement: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Motorsport Network – a company that not only shares our love of motor racing, but has great expertise and an enormous consumer reach. The combination of our passionate communities, Codemasters’ great games and Motorsport Network’s impressive range of operations should make the next few years of esports very exciting.”
This partnership will commence with the launch of DiRT Rally 2.0 on February 26th. It’ll be featured in a co-promoted competition and will act as the “starting point for an enduring joint venture to create, promote, and manage an esport programme”.
James Allen, President of Motorsport Network also discussed the partnership: “Codemasters is a trailblazing publisher that, by common consent, has defined racing games. Through this formidable alliance, we plan to put Codemasters’ iconic titles at the heart of a new, global esports programme that we can deliver to very heartland of motor racing’s fan networks.”
Esports Insider says: Motorsport Network has a huge reach across numerous languages so it makes it an ideal platform to promote racing-based esports. This, in theory, could make it the perfect partner for Codemasters considering the big competitive push it’s undergoing.
