Cloud9 announces BMW as automotive sponsor
North American esports organisation Cloud9 has signed BMW as its automotive sponsor.
This is the first instance of the automobile company sponsoring a team, only previously sponsoring the EU LCS Summer Finals in 2017.
In a follow-up video to the announcement, Jack Etienne, Founder and CEO of Cloud9 revealed that the organisation filmed a series of advertisements with BMW. Personalities and professional players such as Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam, Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi, and Becca “Aspen” Rukavina.
Other details of the sponsorship are unknown at time of writing, though BMW’s logo is present on Cloud9’s social media channels.
Cloud9 entered a sponsorship deal with telecommunications giant AT&T last week. The partnership will result in a new weekly series ‘The Nines’ which provides team highlights, player profiles, insight into tournaments, and other news relevant to the organisation and its partners.
Its other partners include Red Bull, OMEN by HP, U.S. Air Force, Secretlab, Twitch, and HyperX. At the beginning of the year, Cloud9’s LCS team welcomed Puma as its official apparel partner for the 2019 Spring Split.
Esports Insider says: Cloud9 had a great 2018 and it’s already making sure 2019 doesn’t pale in comparison. Announcing both AT&T and BMW as sponsors in the span of a week is impressive for any organisation, never mind an esports organisation.
