BLAST Pro Series adds Los Angeles as 2019 stop
RFRSH Entertainment has added Los Angeles as a stop for its BLAST Pro Series circuit for 2019.
The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event series will head to the Galen Center in Los Angeles on July 12-13th with a $250,000 (£189,157.50) prize pot.
Six teams will battle it out at the event, situated in the 10,000 seat Galen Center which once hosted the League of Legends Season 2 World Championship.
RFRSH Entertainment is ramping up the BLAST Pro Series for 2019, with a host of new locations receiving a tournament and new broadcast rights being acquired on what appears to be a monthly basis.
Most recently, Nordic esports community portal Fragbite entered an agreement to receive the exclusive broadcast rights for the series in Sweden. Other recent deals include Globo TV receiving the Brazilian broadcast rights, Betway sponsoring all events in 2019, and Komodo entering a long-term partnership for its Spanish events moving forward.
Having just wrapped up an event in São Paulo, Brazil on March 23rd, other known stops in the BLAST Pro Series include Miami, USA in April, and Madrid, Spain in May. Four most host cities are yet to be unveiled, totaling eight stops in 2019. When compared to the three competitions in 2018, it’s clear that RFRSH Entertainment is betting big on its product.
Esports Insider says: Los Angeles is obviously a great place to host an event, but truthfully we’d like RFRSH Entertainment to take the circuit to more locations that seldom get to host popular events for a top title such as CS:GO. Nonetheless, São Paulo was a solid showing and there’s promise for more entertaining action dotted over the course of the year from BLAST Pro Series.
