Late last week, Samsung Electronics Australia announced its continued sponsorship of Legacy Esports, one of the premier esports organisations in Australia.

The agreement will see Samsung positioned as the team’s exclusive screen and memory partner through 2019.

Legacy Esports currently fields teams in League of Legends, Overwatch, Starcraft II, Smash and Fortnite. In addition, Legacy announced at the beginning of the year that it would re-enter Counter-Strike following the release of its roster at the end of 2018.

Legacy is owned by Adelaide Football Club and as such has its training facilities at the club. Samsung will now also be the naming rights partner of Legacy’s Esports High Performance Centre. The Samsung brand will also feature on the team’s jerseys as depicted above. Furthermore, the PC teams will be equipped with NVMe M.2 SSDs and curved gaming monitors.

“Esports is one of the most captivating and exciting fields of professional competition in Australia and is redefining how people bring together athleticism, precision, and the best forms of performance technology,” said Josh Grace, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Electronics Australia.

He continued: “As a brand, we’re committed to supporting Australians to break barriers and achieve amazing things through our ‘Do What You Can’t’ spirit and look forward to following the success of Legacy Esports in 2019.”

Nigel Smart, Chief Operating Officer of Legacy stated: “We are ecstatic to have Samsung back on board with Legacy in 2019. Last year, both organisations took strides to grow the industry in Australia and the partnership and subsequent activations helped raise awareness of esports. We look forward to continuing that in 2019 at all levels, from elite to grassroots”.

Esports Insider says: Good to see Australian grassroots esports getting support from such a big brand in Samsung. Given the links with the Australian football club it’s probably a no-brainer in terms of reach. 2019 could be a big year for Australian esports and we look forward to seeing its progress.
