FACEIT hosting first global event in PUBG esports circuit
Event organiser FACEIT has been tapped to host the very first global event in the newly-launched PUBG esports circuit.
Dubbed the FACEIT Global Summit: PUBG Classic, the tournament will take place at ExCeL London on April 16th-21st.
We’re delighted to announce that we’ve partnered with @PUBG to host the first Global Event on the @PUBGEsports Circuit!

24 teams from PUBG’s nine competitive regions – North America, Europe, Korea, China, Japan, Chinese Taipei/Hong Kong/Macao, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Oceania – will compete in the tournament, which marks the conclusion of the circuit’s first phase.
Michele Attisani, Co-Founder & CBO of FACEIT discussed the event in a statement: “We’ve been on an incredible journey with PUBG since the platform integration. Building an esports ecosystem, incentivising players and creating a calendar that engages fans is no mean feat and we’re honoured to have been selected as a partner for the first premier event that gathers the top teams from all over the world. We’re looking to offer the ultimate fan experience in April and we’re excited to bring another major esports event back to London.”
The Summit will also host a show match between six teams that took part in the FACEIT PUBG Showdown, an online tournament that launched earlier this month. FACEIT officially implemented PUBG into its competitive platform on September 28th, 2018.
Jake Sin, Global Esports Manager for PUBG Corporation added: “In this next chapter of PUBG esports, we’re thrilled to be working with FACEIT on our first PUBG Classic and bringing the top battle royale esports teams in the world to the United Kingdom. FACEIT’s track record of esports innovation and proven success in live event production mean fans are in for a real treat with the FACEIT Global Summit.”
Last month, PUBG Corp. announced that it was launching a series of financial initiatives to help teams and third-party organisers throughout the season. This includes profit-sharing on team and league branded items in-game, direct support for costs of operating teams, and event sponsorship.
Esports Insider says: The PUBG esports circuit has admittedly gotten off to a mixed start – with modest viewership of the NPL and a delayed start for the PEL – but this will be the first instance of the circuit coming together on a global level. After PGI 2018’s impressive viewership last July, a lot of expectations will be placed on the Summit to perform.
